Analysis
For Manchester
United, there is now genuine evidence of (Wayne) Rooney, (Cristiano)
Ronaldo and (Carlos) Tevez starting to do well and Nani's
performance on Tuesday was very encouraging. Ferguson is lining
up Ryan Giggs or Anderson to play in central midfield with Owen
Hargreaves and Michael Carrick both out. Carrick suffered a
cracked elbow against Roma in midweek and is out for six weeks
while Hargreaves is sidelined with tendinitis. Full-back Wes
Brown is still doubtful with a knee injury. Goalkeeper Edwin van
der Sar (toe) is also still out, so Tomasz Kuczszak will
continue. Gary Neville is on course to return after the
international break and should have a run-out with the reserves
next Thursday.
For Wigan Athletic,
Striker Antoine Sibierski remains a doubt with a hamstring
injury, but midfielder Denny Landzaat is available again after
recovering from a fractured eye socket. Antonio Valencia is also
ready to return from a knee injury after playing 45 minutes in
the reserves in midweek.
